Black rot is one of the most serious succulent problems because it can move quickly once tissue begins to collapse.
Long-term low light, poor ventilation, badly draining media, and excessive wetness all increase the risk. Pest wounds can also open a path for rot.
At the first signs of translucent or softened tissue, isolate the plant, remove affected parts if possible, and correct the growing conditions that allowed the problem to start.
