Beheading Succulents

Beheading can restart compact growth, rescue a stretched plant, or create a backup. It is most useful when the top section is healthy enough to root.

Use clean tools, cut below the healthy rosette or growth point, and let the wound dry before planting. Keep the cutting in bright shade with airflow while roots form.

The remaining base can often produce new shoots, so the process may create more than one plant when conditions are right.
